NAS - ILLMATIC 1994 PROMO
One of the most classic Hip Hop albums ever created. Recorded between 1992 and 1993. Nas - Illmatic was released to the world on 19th of April 1994.
This album reaffirmed how good New York Hip Hop was. Up until 1994, West Coast Hip Hop was dominating with artists like NWA, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, 2 Pac and more. When Illmatic came out the vibe shifted drastically. Suddenly the East Coast was dominating the game again with artists like Notorious BIG, Wu Tang Class, Mobb Deep and others. This was the beginning of the beef between the West Coast and East Coast.
Illmatic is different from the rest in that it was taking you on a journey through the eyes of a 20 year old Nas who grew up in Queensbridge New York.
What we are offering is a rare German promotional cassette tape that was given to music executives and A&Rs in limited quantity. This was prior to the release in 1994.
We recently have sold 3x USA promo releases and this is the last of its kind. Very rare and almost never pops up. Last copies all went for 1000+ EUR just to give an indication.
Condition of the tape is VG+ depending on the cassette player/deck you are using. We have tested the tape and have not noticed any damage and plays fine with light background noise. Bare in mind that this tape is 32 years old.
The shell is in VG condition with a minor crack as can be seen in one of the pictures. Does not interfere with playback.
