GHETTO BROTHERS - POWER FUERZA 1972
This is a unique chance to own a piece of music history. 100% original pressing of The Ghetto Brothers - Power Fuerza from 1972.
The Ghetto Brothers were a youth gang during the 1960/70s in New York City, in particular in The Bronx. Founded by Hui Cambrelen, Ray DelaVega and Benji Melendez aka Yellow Benji.
When one of their members called Black Benji got murdered in 1971 by a rival gang, several members decided to quit the gang culture and shift focus on music. Power Fuerza was born out of this. The band included: Yellow Benji on lead vocals, and his brothers Victor and Robert on bass and guitar. Luis Bristo on drums. Franky Valentin on timbals. Chiqui Concepcion and Angelo Garcia on percussion. And Davis Silva on lead guitar.
Produced by Bobby Marin at Fine Tone Studio in Manhattan New York for 500 USD at the time. Genre wise its a mixture of Latin Soul, Rock with a bit of a not to the Beatles, which was Yellow Benji's favorite group. It is unknown how many copies were pressed. But it is said less than 500 and only a handful survived the time. This particular copy was sourced from Japan years ago, and has been sitting in a record box in a shelf for the past few years. Now it's time to find a new home.
Condition wise: Sleeve as can be seen in the pictures is in good condition with just minor wear and tear. Only a small corner has tape. All splines are in tact and it seem transparent tape was used only for the liner-notes that were pasted on the back and simply for protection. No rips or tears. Besides that, the sleeve has general age wear.
The record has been played once for testing purposes by us. Plays strong and would be graded at VG/VG+. Visually has some hairlines and paper fades from the original inner-sleeve. But nothing serious. Unfortunately we cannot provide sound samples since we do not have any equipment available anymore. We can provide more pictures if required.
The last copy recently (last 2 years) sold that we know of went for 3000 EUR. However, due to the rarity of this record we are not letting it go for that price. So please come with a strong offer. We are open for negotiation. But do not come with low-ball offers.
